dsc_4389Everyone has a story to tell. Tall or short. Bittersweet and beautiful. People drift in and out of our lives. Most of the time we share nothing more than a passing glance (at best). First impressions, although sometimes enlightening, aren’t usually telling of a person’s storyThere is an ancient Chinese belief that an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The red thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. I have been so blessed with a job that has allowed me to glimpse the stories of so many people and to somehow connect my story with their own. Tangled up in my photographs are the bits and pieces of the red thread which bind all of our stories together.

I don’t have much to give, but this Christmas, I want to give something of myself. I want to extend my red thread a little farther. I want it to connect with someone I would have otherwise never touched. And I want you to be able to give someone the gift of custom photography.

If you’re reading this blog post, sit down, close your eyes, and visualize a strand of red thread reaching out to someone whose story has touched you in some way.

You know someone.

You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. If you’re a parent, maybe you know an incredible mother or father who has inspired you in your own parenting. Maybe you have a favourite teacher or coach who has imparted countless hours of wisdom and guidance. Maybe it’s your best friend who is always there for you and this is how you want to say “thank-you.” Or maybe it’s a complete stranger and this is the red thread which will connect you together…

You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of this season’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography. The individual or family selected will receive a free on location photo session, a handcrafted, personalized album of photos from the session, and a beautiful wrapped canvas of an image from the session to hang as artwork in their home. It’s in your power to give someone the gift of artwork, and of cherished memories this holiday season.

Oh, and I almost forgot, the person who nomimates the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to Sarah Graham Photography.

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself

* The nominee must reside in the Sarnia-Lambton/Petrolia area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve a photo session. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : [email protected].

* Contest closes on December 23rd at 5:00 pm.

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Sarah
